Rep. Tim Rudd highlights No. 1 ranking in election integrity for fifth consecutive year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Tim Rudd, R-Murfreesboro, is highlighting Tennessee’s No. 1 ranking in the nation for election integrity for the fifth year in a row.

The Heritage Foundation’s 2026 Election Integrity Scorecard evaluates states on more than 50 best practices across 15 categories, including voter registration accuracy, voter identification requirements, absentee voting management, election audits and observer access.

Tennessee earned perfect marks for voter identification and scored highly in several other categories, including voter registration list maintenance, absentee ballot safeguards and restrictions on ballot trafficking.

“The General Assembly has made election integrity a priority by adopting common-sense safeguards that protect every eligible voter’s ballot and maintain public confidence in our elections,” Rudd said. “This recognition confirms that Tennessee continues to set the national standard for secure and trustworthy elections. I remain committed to improving our election system for the benefit and future of all Tennesseans.”

Rudd has chaired the House Election and Campaign Finance Subcommittee since 2019 and has helped in advance legislation to strengthen election laws in the Volunteer State.

He also credited Tennessee’s election officials for their work to maintain accurate voter rolls, conduct secure elections and ensure eligible voter can cast their ballots with confidence.

“Secretary of State Tre Hargett and State Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins have worked tirelessly on behalf of every Tennessean to protect the integrity of our elections,” Rudd said.

Tennesseans will head to the polls for the November general election in the coming weeks. Early voting takes place Oct. 14-29 with Election Day on Nov. 3.

Tim Rudd represents District 34 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes part of Rutherford County.
